Man Allegedly Ran Naked From Fire, Punched Woman And Took Her Clothes
After fleeing from a unit fire, a naked man allegedly approached a young woman on the street and demanded she give him her coat and shoes in inner-city Sydney.
Officers arrived at a Chippendale unit just before midnight, following reports of a fire on Sunday night.
Witnesses told police a man was seen running naked from his unit towards Dangar Place.
The 21-year-old man allegedly approached a young woman on the street and demanded she hand over her coat and shoes.
Police said the woman gave the man her coat and attempted to run away, but the man chased her down.
It's alleged the man then grabbed the woman from behind and punched her before trying to stop a white car on Myrtle Street.
Officers said the man opened the car door and punched the driver of the white car before fleeing on foot.
Police arrested the man on Buckland Street and took him to hospital for assessment.
The man has been charged with damaging a property by fire and robbery.
He will appear in Central Local Court today.
Police told 10 daily the incident is believed to have been mental health related.
