Teen Arrested After Girl Brutally Bashed Days After Starting High School
WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES: A 13-year-old girl was viciously assaulted outside a McDonald's restaurant in Adelaide’s north-east, during an alleged fight between school children.
Police are investigating after the assault on Tuesday afternoon.
Patrols were called to the area after reports a fight had broken out between students just before 4pm.
The victim was left with serious facial injuries, and she remains at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she’s expected to undergo surgery.
Friends of the victim have posted about the assault online, claiming the girl had only just started high school and is a straight-A student, who has suffered at the hands of bullies for years.
It's alleged the girl was punched from behind and lost her two front teeth, suffered memory loss, a concussion and neck, spine and shoulder injuries as a result of the attack.
Police have charged a 14-year-old girl with aggravated assault following the incident.
The girl’s school is also looking into the incident.
“The school is aware of a police investigation into an incident that happened off-site after the school day yesterday,” said a statement provided to 10 News First.
10 News First has chosen not to name the school.
“The school has reached out to the family and support is being put in place to assist the victim to return to school. Appropriate disciplinary action is also being taken."
