Man Charged After Body Of Heavily Pregnant Woman Found In Car Boot

A man has been charged after a heavily pregnant woman was found dead in the boot of a car in Queensland.

The body of Kardell Lomas, 31, was found in the backyard of an Ipswich property on Tuesday afternoon.

Lomas' body was found in the boot of a Holden Commodore in the suburb of Raceview after police were called following a phone call from a concerned neighbour.

A 36-year-old man, who police said was known to Lomas, was taken into custody on Tuesday evening and has now been formally charged by police.

He faces one count of murder, one count of unlawful assault of a pregnant female and one count of misconduct with a corpse and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday morning.

Lomas was heavily pregnant with just weeks to go until she gave birth, 10 News First was told earlier this week.

"We have an autopsy being conducted today in relation to a possible cause of death," Det Act Insp McQueen told media at the time.
