Baby Girl Dies, Twin Critical After Incident In Queensland

A six-week-old baby girl has died and her twin sister is fighting for life after they were found unresponsive at a home in Brisbane's south.

Police and paramedics were called to the home  at Sunnybank Hills about 6am on Wednesday, where first aid was being rendered to the two baby girls.

In a statement, Queensland Police confirmed one of the babies died at the scene.

The other, who is also six weeks old, was transported to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police are not treating the baby's death as suspicious.

"Preliminary investigations suggest the babies were sleeping together throughout the night and were discovered unresponsive this morning," the police statement said.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of the baby's death. Investigations are continuing.
