Rio Tinto Worker Crushes Own Ute With Massive Haul Truck
If you thought you were having a bad day, spare a thought for the driver of this haul truck who ran over his own ute.
Rio Tinto has confirmed it is investigating an incident involving a loaded haul truck and a stationary vehicle at a mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
The driver of the crushed vehicle was sent out to perform maintenance on the haul truck when he drove over his own vehicle at the Brockman 4 Iron Ore Mine near the town of Tom Price on Thursday, it is understood.
Rio Tinto has confirmed no one was injured in the incident.
“Rio Tinto confirms it is investigating an incident involving a manned haul truck and a stationary, unattended light vehicle at its Brockman 4 mine on the morning of Nov. 21. The incident occurred after the driver of the light vehicle boarded the haul truck to perform a maintenance task,” a spokesperson for the company told 10 daily.
“Importantly, no one was injured in the incident. Safety is our top priority and the ongoing internal investigation will seek to identify measures to ensure such incidents are avoided in the future. The company has also informed the Department of Mines, Industry, Regulation and Safety (DMIRS).”
