Christchurch Shooting Suspect Abandons Request To Move Trial

Australian Brenton Tarrant will stand trial for 51 counts of murder and one charge of terrorism in Christchurch in June next year.

New Zealand's alleged mosque terrorist, Brenton Tarrant, has withdrawn his application to move his trial from Christchurch.

The High Court convened on Thursday morning -- with Tarrant appearing via videolink from jail -- only to receive instructions it would not be pursued, and therefore dismissing it.

Tarrant, an Australian, is due to stand trial on June 2 next year, having pleaded not guilty to 51 counts of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder and one charge of terrorism.
