Teen Charged Over Setting Fire To NSW Shopping Centre

A teenage boy has been charged with setting fire to a shopping complex on the NSW Central Coast, with the damage estimated to be in the millions of dollars.

A barbershop on Ocean Beach Road in Umina Beach went up in flames on January 13, and firefighters were unable to stop the blaze before it spread and destroyed the whole complex.

Police believe the fire was started with an accelerant in the barbershop.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested at Woy Woy police station on Tuesday and charged with damaging property by fire.

He was denied bail to face a children's court on Wednesday.
