Car 'Ripped In Half' In Horror Late Night Smash
Three cars have been involved in a high-speed crash in Adelaide's northeast overnight that saw one vehicle torn in half.
The driver of one of the cars, a BMW sedan, is fighting for life after his car collided with a Commodore around 2.30am on Monday.
The Commodore was torn in half - with the engine, bonnet and front passenger seat ploughing through the window of a business at Windsor Gardens, in Adelaide's northeast.
The rest of the car was found on the other side of the road, leaving a trail of debris for over 100 metres. The mangled wreck a clear indicator of the force of the crash that left the sedan barely recognisable.
Incredibly, the driver of the Commodore was able to walk away from the car without any serious injuries.
A third car was damaged when it was showered with debris from the collision but the driver wasn't injured.
North East Road, one of the main thoroughfares into the CBD was closed to traffic while Major Crash Investigators remained on the scene Monday morning - causing lengthy delays for commuters.
The male driver of the BMW remains at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.
Police say it's still too early in the investigation to indicate if anyone will be charged.
