The wife, child and mother-in-law of a minor league baseball player have been killed in southern Virginia. The bodies were found by police on Tuesday afternoon after a neighbour phoned 911 about a possible shooting next door.

A naked Matthew Bernard, 19, led more than 100 police officers on an hours-long manhunt before he was arrested naked, and charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Bivens learned of the slayings hours before a doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday night in Tennessee. "Our hearts are broken for Blake," the team posted on Twitter. "We are grieving with him and will support him any way we can.

The Queen has approved a plan by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to suspend parliament for nearly five weeks ahead of the Brexit deadline.The move has sparked protests in London and an online petition which has been signed by  thousands of Brits. A man is in custody following a house fire north-west of Sydney.Authorities were trying to stop the 40-year-old from running inside the burning Rouse Hill property when he allegedly pulled a knife on an officer and assaulted a firefighter. Police used a taser and capsicum spray to detain him.

Police have seized a record amount of methamphetamine hidden inside frozen cow hides. Officers uncovered 755 kilograms of the drug in a shipment from Mexico to Sydney. A 42-year-old man is due to front court today.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer will be farewelled at a state funeral in NSW today. The 73-year-old died last week after a long battle with cancer. Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Nationals leader Michael McCormack and Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese will be among those to say their final goodbyes.

The first national report on the prevalence of endometriosis has found one in 15 women aged 25 to 29 are suffering from the disease. The number of those diagnosed only increases with age, with one in nine women aged 40 to 44 diagnosed with endometriosis, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
