Former Baseball Coach Charged With Assaulting Boys Over 23 Year Period

A former baseball coach has been charged, accused of assaulting young players between 1994 and 2017 on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Five men told police they were physically abused as children by a man known to them at a Pittwater sports club.

Detectives arrested a 70-year-old man at a home in Sanctuary Point, in the state's south, just after 8.30am on Wednesday.

Several items were found during a search, including electronic storage devices, videotapes and documentation. They have been sent for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with 16 counts of common assault, producing child abuse material and child pornography, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police allege man, who was the boys' baseball coach, assaulted the youths on numerous occasions at sporting facilities across Sydney's Northern Beaches and outside of practice between 1994 and 2017.
