Perth Braces To Sweat Through Hottest August Day On Record
Perth will sweat through its hottest August day ever on Wednesday, with the temperature predicted to hit 28C.
Craig Earl-Spurr from the Bureau of Meteorology said it was highly likely Wednesday's maximum temperature will eclipse the previous record of 27.8C, set on August 21, 1940.
“It’s very warm weather, and a sign we’re heading into spring pretty quickly,” he told 10 daily.
“We’ve got a few hot days and then a week of wet weather. Temperatures like this are more common in spring.”
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Bight is directing warm air from the north-east, resulting in hot temperatures.
But don’t get too used to beach weather, conditions will change dramatically on Thursday with a cold front predicted to bring squally winds and wet conditions.
“Temperatures will drop to the low 20s and widespread rainfall totals of 10-20mm are expected,” Earl-Spurr said.
