Brekky Wrap: Overweight Dog Sheds 45kg After Owner Demanded He Be Put Down

All the news you need to know this Thursday.

A golden retriever named Kai has shed more than 45 kg after his owner took him to the vet in Alberta and demanded he be euthanised. Instead of putting him down, the vet contacted animal workers in a bid to find the obese pup a new home and a healthier life. Pam Heggie became Kai's new foster mother and helped him shed more than half of his body weight through a strict diet and exercise. The journey was documented on Facebook, while Kai also showed off his new body on Good Morning America last week. "He learned that I was going to help him and we were going to be ok," Heggie told the program. "He shows you how to do a really big task literally one day at a time".
