Miracle Escape After Cars Sandwiched By Trucks On Highway

A truck has hit a car before smashing into five other vehicles on a busy Melbourne freeway, miraculously, everybody survived.

Emergency services were called to  Monash Freeway at Notting Hill just before 7.30 am after reports of a serious crash.

They arrived at what can only be described as a chaotic scene.

It's understood a B-Double had been travelling west on the freeway when it crashed into a car.

Five other vehicles, including another truck, were subsequently in the firing line.

Three people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for further treatment,  but remarkably, no one was seriously hurt.

Traffic management is in place with the scene taking some time to clear.

The Monash was re-opened in-bound at Forster Road, Mount Waverly early on Thursday afternoon but the two right lanes remained closed with the speed limit reduced to 40 km/h

The investigation remains ongoing.
