Underpants Man Accused Of Brazen Carjacking, Woman Fights Back

A woman was allegedly thrown from her car by a man dressed in nothing but his undies, in an attempted carjacking in Melbourne's south-west.

Police allege the near-nude Bellfield man approached the vehicle outside a hospital on the Princes Highway in Werribee around 5pm yesterday.

The 37-year-old man allegedly pulled the female driver from the vehicle, jumped into the driver's seat himself and began to accelerate -- but not before the woman jumped into the back seat in an attempt to stop him.

The car then ploughed into a number of parked vehicles, before crashing into an embankment on Sneydes Road a short time later.

The woman contacted police from the back of the car before climbing out of the vehicle and attempting to restrain the driver.

Officers arrived a short time later and finished the job.

The woman sustained minor injuries during the confrontation, and was treated at the scene. The man was arrested at the scene.

Victoria Police told 10 daily he was later charged with carjacking and assault related offences, and is scheduled to face court on Tuesday -- where he will no doubt be wearing more clothes than at the time of the alleged incident.

"A police officer sustained a minor injury during the arrest and was transported to hospital for treatment," Victoria Police said.

It's not the first time an undie-clad man has made headlines this year.

In June, an Adelaide man armed with a didgeridoo chased down a suspected home invader, wearing nothing but his underwear.

"I was out there in all my glory," he told 10 News First at the time.

"I notice I run faster naked."

The alleged thief was nabbed in the driveway of a nearby home and was charged to front court in August.
