A leaked Victorian government report outlines some strange ideas that were considered at a transport planning day earlier this year. Among the congestion-easing ideas was a proposal to introduce electronic scooters. But a bizarre plan, that originated from Japan also popped up. 3AW state political reporter James Talia claims that a plan to give commuters at train stations free noodles was considered "in the hope that some of them would stand and eat their noodles instead of all running for the train at the same time". The bad news is, it's off the table.
NSW has claimed the 2019 State of Origin series after a 26-20 win over Queensland in the decider. The Maroons overturned a 12-point deficit in the final 10 minutes at ANZ Stadium, but James Tedesco scraped in a last-minute try, handing the Blues victory. A bus driver has been killed and eight others injured following a crash in Victoria. A B-Double was travelling down the Western Highway at Pimpinio just after 2am this morning when its trailers reportedly came loose, blocking all lanes. A coach, carrying 60 passengers, ploughed into the back of the trailer killing the driver.
A man has been killed, his wife seriously injured after being mauled by a pet dog in Melbourne. Police were called to the Mill Park home at around 6.30pm last night and were forced to shoot at the dog to stop it from attacking. A man, aged 61, died at the scene, his wife, 58, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The dog is believed to be an American Staffordshire terrier was removed by a ranger.
