Elderly Driver Survives Car Crash From Multi-Level Carpark

A 90-year-old man has survived crashing out of a multi-level car park, crashing through guard rails and landing on the ground below.

The car became airborne, before plummeting to the ground just metres from pedestrians.

Emergency services were called to Westfield Marion Shopping Centre around 9am on Friday, after the car crashed through guard rails and landed on its roof, on the ground floor.

"It was like, Dukes Of Hazzard style, like it went over," Jacob Black, a witness, told 10 News First.

"It was literally the weirdest thing I've ever seen in my life."

A group of commuters waiting at a bus stop just metres from where it landed were lucky to escape unhurt.

Several people ran to help pull the driver from the wreckage before paramedics arrived.

"He is talking, he is alive," taxi driver Salim Shaikh told 10 News First.

"He is very lucky."

The elderly driver was taken to hospital. He is said to be in a serious condition. The car was towed from the scene.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash, but suspect the driver may have mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
