A warning has been issued after a Samsung tablet burned a hole through a child's mattress in the U.K. The schoolboy, 11, had plugged the four-year-old device into a charger last Wednesday night and woke hours later to a charred mattress and a thick layer of soot coating his bedroom. Thankfully he managed to escape without injury and firefighters were alerted. "Always put phones and tablets to charge on an appropriate surface and away from flammables," Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said in a statement. The department also warned people to ensure their buildings have working smoke alarms -- this one didn't.
