Dozens Of Gravestones Destroyed, Police On The Hunt For Vandals

A police investigation has been launched after more than 30 gravestones were desecrated at a cemetery in NSW's Hunter Valley.

Police said a vehicle was seen parked in Sedgefield cemetery, near Singleton at around 7pm on Friday night.

In total, 36 gravestones were damaged during the incident -- some were pushed over and several others were smashed.

Officers attached the scene on Friday night but said they did not know how many people were involved in the vandalism.

As police continue their inquiries they’re asking for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
