Brekky Wrap: Man Dies Mid-Air After Ingesting 246 Cocaine Bags

A mother and four children have been killed in a fiery crash north-west of Brisbane. A car collided head-on with a truck and burst into flames on the Bunya Highway near Kumbia at about 7.20pm last night. Police are describing the scene as "catastrophic."

An Australian climber has been rescued after being found unconscious on Mount Everest. The man was found in a critical condition at an altitude of 7,500 metres. He was taken to a hospital in Nepal where he has since stabilised. A record number of climbers have died or have gone missing this season.

An Australian nurse killed while helping those injured in the 2017 London Bridge terror attack has been recognised by the Red Cross for her selfless act. Kirsty Boden will posthumously receive the Florence Nightingale Medal, an award that usually recognises courage in a war zone or natural disaster scene.

More than $140 million worth of cocaine and MDMA have been intercepted by police in Sydney. The drugs were allegedly smuggled in from Spain in a shipment declared as ‘shampoo.’ A man, 33, has been charged and will front court in July.

A man has died on a plane in Mexico after ingesting 246 bags of cocaine. The flight bound for Japan's Narita International Airport had to make an emergency landing on Friday after the passenger, identified as Udo N, began to have seizures mid-air. He died a short time later of a drug overdose. Bags two centimetres long and one centimetre wide were found in his stomach and intestines.

It’s been revealed a young woman bashed to death in a Melbourne park had been at a party with the man accused of killing her just hours earlier. Courtney Herron’s body was found by walkers on Saturday morning.  Henry Richard Hammond, who has no fixed address, has been charged with murder.

Thousands of students will re-sit NAPLAN tests today after computer glitches plagued the first round. Schools around the country reported connection dropouts, lags and difficulty logging in and inputting answers. The federal education minister has ordered a national review.
