Just days out from the Federal Election, the latest Newspoll shows Labor is clinging to its narrow lead over the coalition. The opposition is ahead 51 to 49 percent two-party preferred. In terms of the primary vote, Labor is up slightly to 37 percent, the Coalition is also up, sitting at 39.  Both leaders will begin their final week of campaigning in Sydney.

A Melbourne woman has died after falling more than 40 metres at a popular trekking destination in Japan. The retiree, 66, was walking the Kumano Kodo trail with a friend on Friday when she slipped. She later died in hospital. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing assistance to her family.

Israel Folau has opened up for the first time since his code of conduct hearing, describing his controversial fallout with Rugby Australia as “really challenging”. Principals are concerned technical glitches will plague the rollout of NAPLAN Online this week. It comes after students struggled to log on to the platform during recent practice tests. About 50 percent of Australian schools are expected to use the online test from tomorrow.

A bride has taken to Facebook to slam wedding guests who brought Tupperware containers to the reception to take leftovers home. A friend of the newlywed's father asked if he could bring his daughter and her husband to the small Pennsylvania wedding, the bride agreed, only to find out that the extra attendees brought seven plastic containers to pack dinner into for other family members, and another three for dessert. The guests also swiped a number of floral centrepieces.
