An Ethiopian Airlines flight has crashed, killing all 157 passengers and crew on board. The Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 went down on Sunday, just six minutes after take-off. There were at least 35 different nationalities on board but no Australians were listed among the passengers.

The Coalition has suffered its 50th consecutive Newspoll loss. The poll, conducted by The Australian, shows Labor ahead 54-46 percent after preferences. Scott Morrison remains preferred Prime Minister over Labor’s Bill Shorten.

Two hikers have spent a third night missing in Victoria’s alpine region. The couple left to go hiking on Mount Buffalo on Friday morning but never returned. Their car was found near the walking track, but there has been no sign of the pair.

Queensland is bracing for a heat wave. The mercury is expected to nudge 40 degrees in parts of the state on Monday while Brisbane is forecast to hit 36. Relief isn’t expected until Thursday.

The Federal Government will relax Visa rules to make it easier for farmers to hire skilled foreign workers. The changes, to be announced on Monday, will allow migrants to get a four-year working visa if they remain in a specified region and take up an agriculture role. New eight-year visas will also be given to sponsored sports and art migrants.

A man has been left devasted after his girlfriend of three years rejected his marriage proposal because he did it in their hotel room. The man had flown his partner to Cambodia -- which was at the top of her bucket list -- and had spent the day exploring before he got down on one knee. While his girlfriend initially said yes, she later gave the ring back, wanting a more thoughtful proposal. The Boyfriend wrote of his heartbreak on a post on Reddit.

A new study has found 41-per-cent of prostate cancers are ‘over-diagnosed’ in Australia.  While 17 per cent of men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1982, that figure rose to one in five in 2012, according to Bond University. The research has warned over-diagnosis could lead to unnecessary and harmful treatment.

Pre-polling for the NSW State election opens this morning. One and a half million people are expected to vote before the March 23 polling day.
