A Melbourne cafe has been slammed after some customers took offence to a 'joke' written on a chalkboard outside the shop. Seddon Deadly Sins cafe displayed a joke that read, "My girlfriend broke up with me, so I stole her wheelchair … guess who came crawling back."

Customers claimed the joke was making light of both people with a disability and domestic violence. Some people even vowed on social media never to return to the cafe. The cafe has since apologised for the joke in a Facebook post.

"Today I made the mistake of making light of something that I had not considered was a brutal reality for some people," the post read.
