Man Suffers Broken Leg After Falling Into Grave
A cemetery worker has suffered a broken leg after falling into a freshly dug grave in Melbourne's northeast.
Ambulance crews were called to Metery Road in Eltham just before 8.00am on Tuesday after the man, believed to be in his 40s, fell into the two-metre deep trench.
10 Daily understands he and his colleagues were taking off a steel cover when he fell into the grave, which had only been dug days earlier.
Paramedics assessed the worker on the ground, while the Metropolitan Fire Brigade stabilised the grave.
Thirteen emergency vehicles were called to the site.
The injured man has been winched to safety and taken to hospital for treatment.
The incident comes less than 24 hours after two men became trapped in a collapsed trench in Epping.
The duo were plucked to safety after several hours and were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
