Ex Prison Officer Accused Of Sending Valentine's Day Card To Inmate

A Valentine’s Day Card has landed a female prison officer in hot water after she was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a male inmate inside a Western Sydney Prison.

Tara Brooks has now been sacked from her job at Parklea Correctional Centre, following claims she had sent love letters under a fake name.

The 33-year-old was arrested at a home in Stanhope Gardens just after 3pm yesterday.

She was taken to Riverstone Police Station and issued a Court Attendance Notice for the new offence of engaging in a relationship with an inmate causing a safety risk to a correctional centre.

The 41-year-old inmate she’s accused of having a relationship with is serving time for drug supply and will now be moved to another prison.

It’s the first time the charge has been issued since the NSW government passed legislation to amend the law in November.

Brooks has been released on bail and will appear in Blacktown Local Court next month.
