A woman in the UK has proposed charging her boyfriend  nearly $70 every time he is out drinking past 4am. Taking to Reddit, she said she's taking the drastic measures because she feels there are double standards in her relationship.

"After moving in together, I was still wrestling with alcoholism and stayed out a handful of times until 3AM," she said, explaining she often let her phone die.

"Every time, my boyfriend expressed that he hated this."

Now the roles have changed and the woman said she is often home alone for hours at night while he is out drinking with a new friend group. Her solution? If either of them aren't at home by 4am, they give the other $US 50 ($AU 69).

"Am I the asshole? Is he? Are we both assholes?"

She hasn't yet updated to say if her boyfriend is down for the idea.
