The Wild Boars Meet Their Match On Ellen
Just months after their miraculous rescue from the depths of a flooding cave, the young footballers and their coach are lapping up their world-wide publicity tour.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, the Wild Boars described through an interpreter their time trapped underground in a partially flooded cave in Thailand.
The young team were all smiles as they told Ellen that they weren't scared and never lost hope during the ordeal that began as a team bonding excursion but ended in a race against time to free them from the rising waters.
The boys continued to praise coach Ekapol Chantawong who made it a priority to keep the dangerous environment as tranquil as possible, while they patiently waited or days for help to arrive.
The interpreter told Ellen the coach urged them to "to pray and meditate so they can stay calm."
The world has marveled at their bravery but it was the team who were left speechless when they were surprised with a visit from their favourite professional football player -- LA Galaxy's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The iconic player, who is known for being a prolific goalscorer, said he was the one left starstruck and described the Wild Boars as "the best team in the world".
The team appeared poised during their first studio interview, which aired in more than 175 countries.
Even Ellen, who has interviewed some of the biggest celebrities in the world, seemed in awe of the boys she called "incredible" and gifted them custom Ellen jerseys.
