Father Of Girl Thrown Off Bridge Speaks Out
The father of a 19-year-old Central coast girl who was bashed and tortured before being thrown off a bridge and left to die has thanked friends, the public as well as the police for the outpouring of support.
“I would like to say thank you for everything you have done for me and my family and the detectives have done a fantastic job I’m still very emotional and a mess but I’m getting there thank you sincerely xxxx” said the victim’s father via a Facebook post.
He said on Friday his daughter was now at home in bed a continues to recover from her ordeal.
The woman, who has a birth defect and is missing part of her left arm, as well as a learning disability, managed to swim to the riverbank and get help after she was allegedly thrown from the bridge in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police say the young disabled woman is lucky to be alive.
Her father remains angry and upset but has calmed a little.
Detectives have since made arrests, charging four people with a range of offences including attempted murder.
Police allege the four acted as a group and made a premeditated decision to assault, torture and dispose of the girl without any care or remorse for their actions as to whether she lived or died.
It's understood one of the four charged was the young girl's 16 year-old ex boyfriend and his current girlfriend.
It will be alleged that they were acting out of revenge after the girl had called the accused a “dog”, luring her to a meeting place in Ambervale in Sydney’s west where they forced her into their car and drove her to a home in Whalan.
In disturbing video of the incident the young woman can be heard trying to call her dad for help, saying “Dad! No! Leave me alone. Just leave me alone!”
Once at the Whalan home she was removed from the boot taken inside.
It’s alleged here she was tied to a chair with a mobile phone charger cord, blindfolded and subjected to regular vicious assaults by each member of the group as well being stabbed twice, once in each leg.
