A Senate inquiry into interference in the ABC will aim to establish the facts in relation to reports that ABC Chairman Justin Milne asked then ABC Director Michelle Guthrie to fire journalist Emma Alberici. Communications Minister Mitch Fifield asked the Secretary of his department on Wednesday to investigate the claims that Milne wanted Alberici gone to appease the government and hand him a report as soon as possible. At a meeting in Sydney on Wednesday staff unanimously passed a motion calling for Milne to stand down.

New Zealand Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck won the Dally M Medal for best NRL player in 2018. He won the prize with 29 votes and was also awarded best fullback of the year. The Warriors themselves were pretty excited to see one of their teammates claim one of NRL's top prizes and so, honoured the 25-year-old by performing an impromptu Haka.

Western Australian Police are currently investigating the alleged torturing and killing of two kangaroos. Footage filmed in May and June show the animals being stabbed and punched with knuckledusters but Police haven't released the footage saying it is too graphic. Police have released the images of three men they are seeking to assist them with their injuries into the matter.

Remains thought to belong to murdered Perth woman Ah Bee Mack have been found at her former home. Mack was last seen alive at her family's home in Mount Hawthorn in September 2008 and was reported missing two years later. In 2013, her son Brett Donald Mack was given a life sentence for her murder and Mrs Mack's body has never been found.

Two women have been charged with the attempted murder and kidnapping of a 19-year-old woman. The two women allegedly forced the 19-year-old into the boot of a car and held her against her will. She was then allegedly thrown 30 metres from the Windsor Bridge into the river where she managed to swim to the river bank and seek help. Police arrested one 19-year-old and one 17-year-old woman and both were refused bail.

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused China of wanting to interfere in the U.S. Congressional elections in November. Trump said the Chinese didn't want Trump to win at the elections because he "is the first president ever to challenge China on trade". Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi rejected the claims saying that China has a long history of noninterference in international elections.  “We did not and will not interfere in any country’s domestic affairs. We refuse to accept any unwarranted accusations against China," Wang said.

There was a whole lot of heat on Wednesday night's episode of The Bachelor with Sophie emerging as a red-hot favourite to win Nick's heart. While the group date saw the girls go bowling and pour out their hearts with personal letters, Sophie and Nick's on-ice date was the real talking point. After a game of ice hockey, she became the second bachelorette to enter the bachelor pad. In a shock twist, both Dasha and Emily were sent home and now we are left with four ladies that are taking Nick home to meet their parents on Thursday.
