Three People Killed In Head-On Highway Crash
An 11-year-old boy survived the crash south of Canberra with only minor injuries.
Three people have been killed in a head-on crash on a highway south of Canberra overnight.
Police believe two vehicles, a Ford Falcon and a Citroen, collided while travelling on the Monaro Highway at Michelago, near Queanbeyan, about 11.30pm. The Citroen then burst into flames.
The driver and passenger of the Citroen died at the scene, while an 11-year-old boy who was also in the car escaped with minor injuries. He remains in hospital.
The driver of the Ford also died at the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, while motorists are advised to avoid the highway as authorities clear the scene.
