A technical problem involving a 'lightning strike' is stopping people calling the emergency triple zero number across the country. NSW Police say affected cable is somewhere between Orange and Bowral in NSW and the damage occurred in the early hours of Friday morning. Connections to triple zero in NSW, Victoria and WA are still intermittent, however Police say they are working closely with emergency services to manage the issue in those states.

Twitter is urging its users to change their passwords following a data glitch. The glitch caused some user passwords to be displaced in plain text on their internal computer system. The social network says that it has fixed the problem and that there is no evidence that passwords or account information has been compromised. Reset your Twitter password here.

US President Donald Trump has admitted to reimbursing lawyer Michael Cohen for a payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, despite denying he knew about the payment just a few months ago. Trump said that the repayment of over $170,000  ($130,000 USD) made to Daniels for her silence of an alleged affair was paid to Cohen as a monthly retainer. Despite winning the US election just months after the payment, Trump denies that any campaign money was used to pay Daniels.

Former Collingwood footballer Dane Swan has issued a statement as police investigate an explicit video. The video was posted to social media in the last few days leaving Swan "devastated". Swan's statement said that the video is not a sex tape and that he feels it being posted to the internet is a "gross breach" of his privacy.

Queensland state parliament has passed controversial land clearing laws that limit farmers' rights to clear vegetation from their properties. While conversation groups support the move, farmers marched on the parliament on Tuesday to protest the laws. Farmers argue that the new laws will force them to downsize their businesses and increase hardship for workers in an already struggling industry.

Bill Cosby and director Roman Polanski have been expelled from the organisation that runs the Oscars. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences voted to expel the pair after Cosby was convicted of aggravated indecent assault and Polanski of statutory rape in 1978. The organisation also expelled Harvey Weinstein in October 2017 following multiple allegations of sexual assault.

The Newcastle Jets are looking to become the first team in A-League history to make the ultimate turn round from wooden-spooners to Premiers in back-to-back seasons. The Jets will take on Melbourne Victory in Newcastle, in the first football final in a regional area. It is a record sixth-straight football final for Melbourne Victory.

And Manchester Airport is on a mission to reunite a lost toy dog and its owner. Workers at the airport found the lost toy at security, and now are spreading the news to try and get the pair back together.
