The Grammys' Claw Nail Trend Has Twitter Asking One Very Awkward Question
Claw nails have been spotted on everyone from Lizzo to Billie Eilish -- but how do they, uh, you know...?
When it comes to red carpet fashion, there's not a whole lot we ordinary folk can recreate for ourselves. While Versace gowns might blow the budget, typically nail art is our one accessible saving grace.
But not this year.
One of the wildest fashion trends to come out of the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards has been claw nails -- a manicure that can be up to four centimetres long.
A number of nominees and guests have been spotted rocking an almighty set of nails. But none quite as dramatic as Billie Eilish.
The 18-year-old megastar took out a staggering five out of six of the awards she was nominated for, including Best Pop Vocal Album, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Album of the Year and Record of the Year.
Dressed in head-to-toe Gucci and neon green, her wild nails stood out like a sore thumb.
During her live performance of "When The Party's Over", all eyes were on her talons. Causing Twitter to ask one mega awkward question: how does she, y'know... wipe?
It's certainly a good question. Albeit one we don't really want the answer to. And it's not just the Hottest 100 winner turning heads with her paws.
Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalia's set of nails are so long they'd make Cardi B proud. Which is quite the honour, given that the claw nail trend has been affectionately nicknamed 'Cardi B Nails' after the rapper herself.
Celebs like Lizzo and Priyanka Chopra used their manicures to pay tribute to Kobe Bryant, after it was announced only hours before the ceremony that the basketball great had lost his life in a tragic helicopter crash.
The Bollywood star and wife of Grammys performer Nick Jonas shared a close up shot of the number '24' painted on her pared-back french tips, an ode to the Lakers' star's jersey number.
Similarly, Lizzo's glittery fingertips featured '8' painted on them in gold - another of Bryant's numbers and the number of Grammy award nominations she has received this year.
Who would have thought that such a small part of the body can have so many people talking? But when your nails are this long, they look a little less like a mani and a little more like a billboard. So it's little wonder stars are using them to get their message across.
