All The Details Of Princess Beatrice's (Apparently) $310,000 Engagement Ring

On Thursday the news broke that the eldest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York is engaged to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

And while looking at their adorable and very happy engagement announcement, it doesn't take long for you eyes to gravitate towards the giant rock on the 31-year-old's finger.

So yes, Princess Beatrice's engagement ring is just as expensive as it looks, being estimated to be worth the six figure sum of $310,000. Well, she is a royal after all.

The ring is designer by British jeweller Shaun Leane and according to the press release obtained by E! News, it is has been made by hand and set with excellent cut diamonds of the highest colour and clarity grades.

So it really is fit for a princess. It also mentions that the diamonds are GIA certified and ethically sourced.

Princess Beatrice's now fiancé designed the custom ring in consultation with Shaun Leane, having approached him to create it four months ago.

“Edo was very prepared and he had done his research. He had a very strong feeling about what he wanted,” Leane said in a statement according to People.

“He knew that he wanted a round stone, and he knew he wanted platinum. We talked about aesthetic and he said, ‘I really love Art Deco, and Beatrice really likes a Victorian aesthetic in jewelry.’"

We talked about fusing the two together and he thought it would be lovely to do that, to fuse their two personalities together within the ring. There was a real unity.

Leane confirmed that the centre diamond is 2.5 karats while the baguette diamonds on the side are .75 karats.

"Being able to incorporate both Edoardo and Princess Beatrice's characters into the design has resulted in a unique ring that represents their love and lives entwining," Leane added.

Leane and Mozzi had five to six meetings in which Mozzie gave his thoughts and Leane would translate them into sketches.

“He personally chose the stones. The ring was crafted upstairs with my goldsmiths," Leane said.

"With our bespoke service, we document every single stage of the ring so throughout the whole process I would mail Edo the pictures of the ring — there was a constant communication."

However one question Leane would not answer is the price tag that came with the ring which has been speculated to lie anywhere between $100,000 to $310,000. Wow.

“I can’t give a price, but I think everyone is speculating. It’s interesting to see the range! I can’t divulge that, I’m sorry!” Leane said.

Leane is one of the favourite jewellers of Meghan Markle who has worn a number of his designs. Leane's pieces have also been worn by Cara Delevingne, Bella Hadid, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Emma Watson, Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz, Uma Thurman and Adele just to name a few.
