These Are The Rules 'The Bachelor' Star Vakoo Lives By When Taking Selfies

Professional model Vakoo Kauapirura made a very memorable entrance on 'The Bachelor Australia' 2019 after uttering just a few words.

"Hi, my name's Vakoo," she told our Bachie Matt Agnew with just the right mix of charm and confidence.

While Vakoo might not have received a rose at the last ceremony, she's left a lasting impression on Australia for unapologetically being herself, having the knack to crack hilarious one-liners, and look like a million bucks in any outfit.

So, who better to ask advice on taking the perfect selfie than our queen of the catwalk, who literally brought her own red carpet for her first meeting with Matt.

Chatting to 10 daily after her elimination, Vakoo revealed her top tips to taking the perfect selfie.

It's All About The Light

The first and most important element of taking a selfie, according to Vakoo, is the lighting.

"Always good lighting! It doesn’t matter if you look good if you don’t have good lighting -- it won’t work," she explained.

She added that natural light works best if you can get out in the fresh air to strategically take the pic.

"I like outdoors, especially because of my complexion, the sun just works really well with melanin," she told 10 daily.

Bonus points if you time your selfies for 'golden hour' when the sun hits the sweet spot on the horizon as it's setting -- aka the best time to illuminate your face with a natural, warm glow.

"It hits the right spots, it just gets me going! It’s the best. There’s no better lighting," Vakoo laughed.

Angles, Angles, Angles!

Vakoo recommends holding your phone or camera up high to make sure you're capturing yourself from the most flattering angle.

"The angle, gotta get the angle!" she said, adding that she's a "higher-up type of gal".

Can't argue with that!

Most importantly, Vakoo said you're always going to take a good selfie if you're really feeling your self(ie) that day.

"Just feeling really confident [helps]," she told 10 daily.

"Sometimes I’m like, ‘Oh I’m feeling really good’. And then if I tell myself that, the photo turns out great!" she added.

Caption Time

So, you've taken the perfect selfie and you're ready to upload it to the 'gram, but what are you going to write underneath your glorious photograph?

"Oh my god, captions are really hard," said Vakoo.

"I have in my [phone] notes, ‘Insta captions’ and I have so many that I’ll use eventually but it depends on the mood and what’s trending, as well," she told 10 daily.

"Like a popular song, to just be basic," she laughed.

'The Bachelor' airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm, only on 10, 10 Play and WIN Networks.
