Dual Duty Skincare Products For The Laziest Among Us

Sometimes you just want a product that does more than one thing, right?

Sista, you've come to the right place. We have scoured the skincare shelves in our attempt to get just five more minutes in bed.

These new (and some old) beauty buys will save a step in your skincare routine so you can do something more useful instead. What's more, we've tried them all out for you, so you can take your pick...

Medik8 Micellar Mousse, $49, is a revelation for those of us who want to wash our faces but love the gentleness of micellar water. It's a foam that you pump into your hand and use to wash your face and it's an ultra-creamy, sulphate-free formula.

Verdict: Sold! This is amazing. I loved micellar water in theory but I actually really prefer washing my face so this is perfect. And it's light, moisturising, and works. I will be buying this. It's life-changing.

Go-To Skincare Zincredible, $45, is the latest skincare wonder from Zoe Foster Blake's Go-To company. It's a moisturiser and SPF 15 in the one (and it's a physical sunscreen so you know it will work) with added antioxidants and the bonus that it smells, well, zincredible.  It also doubles as a primer. What can't it do?

Verdict: I don't normally wear a sunscreen/moisturiser combo but this is good. Usually, my makeup doesn't stay on in the heat but as a primer, this worked wonders. It's a bit matte when you put it on, which helps keep things in place, and although it was a little harder to apply foundation over the top it was worth it. Smells amazing.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying clay cleanser and mask, $11.99 is a two in one cleanser you can leave on to become a deep cleansing mask. Perfect if you have a bit more time to play with on occasion.

Verdict: This stuff smells awesome -- minty and somehow marine-y. It goes onto the skin nicely and isn’t too thick. I left it on for about 10 minutes and it didn’t get all tight and dry by the end. I could see it drawing out oil around my chin which was fab. It even helped calm down an ugly example of cystic acne on my chin.

Alpha-H Essential Skin Perfecting Moisturiser, $59.95, is actually a 5-in-1 skincare winner -- a moisturiser, primer, anti-blue light protector, anti-pollution defence and broad-spectrum shield in one little tube.

Verdict: I have ageing skin and this worked a treat -- it's not greasy or white, it's light and protecting like a lovely cloud. The bonus is, the Alpha-H stuff all smells amazing, too. I felt plumped up, softened and protected all day.

Go-To Skincare Exceptionoil, $51, is another beaut from Go-To and it pretty much moisturises everything -- they call it a "do-it-all, do-it-oil that nourishes, soothes and conditions the skin, nails, heels, cuticles and hair." You can add to your foundation, too.  And the smell -- oh, the smell!

Verdict: I have used this before and it's totally amazing. It smells gorgeous and it really does make your skin so soft. I use it as a perfume too. One thing -- you do need to store it in the fridge during summer as it can get really runny.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30, $65, is a three in one: it blurs, primes and protects your skin and they say it flatters any skin tone. They also say it gives up to 12 hours of flawless makeup wear, visibly reducing the appearance of pores, fine lines and uneven texture.

Verdict: This is genius. I have oily skin underneath dehydration, and it totally stopped the oil from resurfacing through the day, as well as literally blurring my deeper wrinkles. It's like photoshop in a pump pack.

Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift, $99, is quite pricey, but given that it does two great jobs, it may be worth the investment. You can use it as a regular eye serum --  it minimises the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, increases skin luminosity and lifts the eye area  -- or whack it on once a week as an eye mask. Store it in the fridge as the cooling applicator is perfect for a de-puffing eye massage.

Verdict: This applicator is the bomb. You can actually see it depuffing your eyes and if you do leave it in the fridge it is so cooling. The serum itself is easily absorbed. Worth paying for I reckon.

Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme, $55, inspired by the yellowy must-have “banana powder” that helps colour correct your skin, this creme has pigments to instantly brighten and disguise the eye area AND it targets wrinkles AND over time, the Vitamin C will help the eye area look its best. Genius.

Verdict: Feels really light but instantly my eyes looked better -- I've not been sleeping in the heat and this worked miracles for just gently correcting my eye area and making it look like I had a full eight hours. Great under makeup too.

The Body Shop Mediterranean Almond Milk With Oats Instant Soothing Mask, $35, helps relieve dry, sensitive skin from feelings of tightness and itchiness, and at the same time gently exfoliates -- great for those with really sensitive skin who think they can't exfoliate.

Verdict: I loved this. It was really soothing -- I have to be really careful what I put on my skin, but it felt really moist and plump afterwards. A happy customer.

Ultraceuticals Ultra Dual Microfoliant, $79, is a dual-action exfoliator which they say is formulated to exfoliate your skin while also giving it a dose of pure Vitamin C. Clever. You use on dry skin -- then remove with a washcloth.

Verdict: This is the real deal -- it made my face clean and soft and the next day it felt really smooth. It's also not too harsh -- I have sensitive skin sometimes and it didn't do anything weird, even though it was exfoliating. I liked the fact you use it on dry skin too, it felt like it had a purpose!

Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon, $120, is a night cream and sleep aid in one delicious smelling tub. The treatment gel-cream works on skin overnight leaving it more hydrated skin when you wake, while "motion-activated" French Lavender Essential Oil (with Sandalwood and Patchouli) work all night to promote deep, restful sleep. Win-win. Can't lose. Get on me.

Verdict: This smells heavenly, and (like the Lush Sleepy Body Cream) really worked to relax me at night. The added bonus of a totally gorgeous face cream means I woke up feeling good and looking less tired -- bonus. Really luxe, yes, but lovely.
