Nike's Swarovski-Encrusted Sneakers Are Perfect For Modern-Day Cinderellas

Yes, you shall go to the ball!

Who can forget that iconic scene in Disney's Cinderella -- the original cartoon or any of the many remakes, your choice -- when dear, neglected Ella's fairy godmother transforms her ragged dress into a glittering ball gown with the flick of her wand.

Her final flourish? A pair of sparkly glass slippers. And yeah, they're cute and all but they do NOT look comfy -- even though our heroine states otherwise.

Enter Nike's new Swarovski-covered Air Max 97s. We reckon this is exactly the pair of tricked up kicks ol' Cindy would rock today.

The Nike WMNS Air Max 97 LX Swarovski deliver the sparkle -- and then some -- thanks to 50 thousand Swarovski gems artfully woven into the golden racing stripes.

If that wasn't enough bling, the trim that holds the laces is reflective, transforming from burnished gold to a pale sand colour in the light.

On either side of the shimmery sneakers is the brand's trademark swoosh in a warm red that somehow perfectly complements the shoe's gilded hue.

Back on December 5 fashion it-girl Ava Nirui was one of the first to 'Gram the shoes, which join similar Swarovski-encrusted styles in silver and black which were released in 2017.

According to sneaker insider HYPEBAE, the metallic gold iteration went on sale on sneaker hubs including SNS and Solebox on December 26, with rumours that they'd pop up on Nike's official site soon after.
