J-Lo Rocked An Exposed Thong So We Guess '00s Fashion Is Back?
She's having a whale (tail) of a time.
Hold onto your Supré mini skirts and slick on a sticky layer of Lancôme Juicy Tube lip gloss 'cause we're time travelling back to the early Noughties.
At least, that's what we think is happening in light of goddess-on-earth J-Lo's latest fashion choice.
The 'Waiting For Tonight' singer clearly couldn't wait to dip back into a rather divisive trend that dropped jaws in the first half of the 2000s: the exposed thong.
The 49-year-old was spotted on a Miami music video set with rapper/producer DJ Khaled on Friday sporting a cropped white top, grey wide-legged pants and a matching g-string.
The ~racy~ piece of apparel was fully visible above the hip-hugging waistband of J-Lo's trousers, and at one point the hot mama even reached down to casually adjust one of the straps.
Girl, we've all been there, right??
J-Lo's eyebrow (and undie) raising outfit is from designer Natasha Zinko’s Fall 2018 collection, which featured layered jeans -- we're talking three pairs in one -- boxy '80s shoulders and yes, more than a few whale tails.
Zinko's edgy designs are gathering a celeb following, with Rita Ora, Dua Lipa and our own Kylie Minogue all sporting her threads.
This isn't the first time g-strings have gone haute couture. Way back in 1998 Tom Ford sent models down the runway of his Spring 1998 show for Gucci in sexy black thongs hiked above their slinky slip skirts.
A few years later X-Files actor Gillian Anderson truly made us want to believe that thongs were red carpet wear when she proudly displayed a black mesh number with a backless sheath dress.
And tbh she killed it. Can we also steal those shades, too?
Noughties it-girls Paris, Nicole and Xtina (during her Dirrty phase) all rocked the underwear-as-outerwear trend to great success. Not that our mums would ever let us get away with it ...
Less than two decades later came Kim K -- and her famous derrière -- showcasing a Tom Ford-era Gucci thong in a bootylicious Insta pic.
In fact, the whole Kardashian Klan isn't afraid to hike their knickers -- or bikini bottoms -- high.
It does elongate the legs, after all. #thighbrow, anyone?
Now Jenny from the Block is trying her hand at this borrowed-from-the-2000s lewk, and let's be honest, she absolutely slayed.
So is the whale-tail making a comeback?
Are thongs, g-strings or -- dare we say -- butt floss ready to re-emerge north of the border after over a decade in hiding?
Only time will tell, but if J-Lo -- who literally broke the internet in that Versace dress at the 2000 Grammys -- can't make thongs happen then we don't know who can.
