Stella McCartney Is Now Doing Wedding Dresses For Us Mortals
If you oohed and aahhed at Meghan Markle's second wedding dress, then you may want to start saving.
You see, Stella McCartney has started a new line of wedding frocks... and you can buy your own version.
It's just lovely.
For her evening reception, if you remember, Meghan switched out of her traditional custom Givenchy design by the label’s Artistic Director, Clare Waight Keller and into a slinky silk Stella with a high halter neck and low back, like the one above, which royal watchers went wild over. And now, finally, after all the positive attention the look got, the British designer has decided to officially introduce her "Made with Love" bridal designs into her line, full time.
They're really pretty.
“When I designed this collection, I took some classic Stella McCartney pieces and relooked at them and reenergised them with the spirit that is now in the future of weddings -- the modern bride’s approach to her dress,” McCartney told Vogue.
“It was important to me to embody the core values of our house, so the collection has elements of sustainability as well. It truly reflects different ages, and I think so many different women come to us, so I really wanted to reflect that in the bridal offering,” she continues. “It is not just for one type of bride; it is truly made with love,” she added.
And they include two pants-based outfits, for the bride who doesn't want a gown but still wants to look stylish in Stella on her big day.
Meghan’s reception gown got so much praise, the designer created 46 replicas soon after the wedding. She sold 23 white gowns and 23 in black, in honor of her new store’s London location: 23 Old Bond Street and sold them for over $5000 each.
They sold out quickly -- but now this collection means you can grab your own. All you need to do is make an appointment with a Stella consultant in one of her stores (you will have to fly somewhere from Australia, so factor that in to the cost btw). No prices are on the website either.
According to the Stella McCartney website, "Made with Love is a 17-piece bridal collection reimagining wedding dressing for the modern woman; a new perspective on the traditional that is effortless, confident and naturally sexy, made with signature Stella attitude."
It’s something that I feel very passionately about and is very close to my heart. I think that in this day and age the wedding day is something very different to how it’s traditionally perceived, and I think that the house of Stella McCartney really represents something a little more effortless.”
Every piece is made in Italy and -- because she uses only ethical products -- crafted using luxurious sustainable viscose and updates on traditional couture fabrics.
We do, Stella. We do.
