All The Heart-Warming Photos From Australia's Official 'Wedding Of The Year'
For the first time ever, a same-sex couple have taken out the title for Australia's Wedding Of The Year -- and we have all the gorgeous pics.
Every year, Easy Weddings asks Australia to do the impossible -- decide on the single most wonderful wedding of the year.
It's no mean feat, granted just how many unique, picturesque and absolutely breathtaking marriage ceremonies take place in our country every single day.
But Australia has spoken, and according to the Easy Weddings community, Melbourne couple Daniel and Michael have been out 11 other incredible weddings to out the top spot.
Daniel and Michael wed in Southbank last year, surrounded by stunning florals, striking colours, and all the confetti you'd ever need. They even had a celebrity in the midst, The Real Housewives of Melbourne's Gina Liano was their celebrant.
The pair mark the first same-sex couple to win the honour, and for their prize they've won a trip to the Maldives. Well, that and eternal bragging rights.
“It feels pretty amazing to be the first same-sex couple to take the crown for a wedding of the year prize,” said Daniel.
“No other same-sex marriage globally has been recognised for this type of award and we think it’s such a brilliant way to break down misconceptions and stereotypes around what a traditional wedding should look like.”
According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, same-sex weddings made up 5.5 percent of marriages in the country in 2018. And Michael and Daniel are honoured to share their story and take Australia with them on their journey.
We’ve received so many amazing messages of support. From ‘to be couples’, parents of gay children and people who might have been on the fence about same-sex marriage.
The photos will warm your soul, and we have them all for you below:
