Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard Expertly Handle Awkward Parenting Moment

Kristen Bell has praised her husband Dax Shepard for "brilliantly" navigating one of parenting's most cringe-worthy conversations.

The celebrity couple is famously private when it comes to their two young daughters, Lincoln, 6, and Delta, 5.

While the pair have often shared stories of their hilarious parenting mishaps on talk shows and podcasts, it's very rare that we get to hear from the girls themselves.

But over the weekend Bell took to Instagram to allow fans in on an awkward conversation that went down between Shepard and one of their daughters.

It was all about swear words and rude gestures, a necessary, albeit uncomfortable chat that many parents hope to put off for as long as possible.

In a close-up video of 'The Good Place' star's face, you can hear Shepard and their child chatter away in the background.

"He says this is 'f*ck. He says that every time in school," the daughter is heard saying in the beginning of the clip.

"He does? He's naughty," replied Shepard.

"The teacher says that's a bad word."

Shepard explains: "Yeah, that's not a nice word. You know that that's a naughty finger and I never see you do that. It makes me so proud that you know that, yet you don't do it. Well, you did it a couple of times when you were young, before you knew it was a naughty word.

"One time you couldn't get a shirt on in your bedroom and you let it fly. Then later that day, you were in the swimming pool and you let one fly. But since then you've really curbed it."

The daughter responds: "You guys didn't tell me 'f*ck' was a bad word when I was little."

"You're right, we just ignored it. We hoped that you didn't say it a lot, which seemed to work."

Bell is seen actively trying to hold back laughter as she listens in on her family's conversation.

Kristen Bell Reveals The 'Cher Test' That Has Defined Her Career

Accepting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kristen Bell explained the secret tool she learned from Cher to help decide what projects to work on.

Posting it to her Instagram story, she shared the video with her 12.7 million followers. It was then saved and re-posted to a number of fan accounts.

"I have been waiting for this conversation since the day I got pregnant," Bell captioned the post.

She tags her husband and continues with a 'Friends' reference, writing: "The one where we talk about what fingers mean what when we hold em up."

I [am] fidgeting because I am trying so hard not to laugh. It's excruciating. @daxshepard you handled this brilliantly.

The couple are well-known for their public displays of affection and praising each other's parenting styles. Their individual Instagrams are overflowing with photos of the pair cuddling and laughing together.

The Hollywood mother and father are yet to post any photos of the faces of their little girls, giving their daughters privacy despite belonging to famous parents.
