Major US Bridal Chain Features A Same-Sex Couple For The First Time In Its Ads
In an extremely promising sign of the times, David's Bridal featured two women tying-the-knot in a new campaign.
The wedding dress retailer declared that it is "rewriting the rules" when it comes to modern-day nuptials.
Apart from the inclusion of a same-sex couple, the ad also features a number of other couples not traditionally seen in wedding ads, including a bride and groom who are already parents.
This is the first time such a diverse group of couples has been featured in a campaign for the company.
David's Bridal's chief marketing officer Liz Crystal told PEOPLE they hope the campaign will help to build a more diverse client base.
"As the wedding landscape continues to shift to include more non-traditional elements, we wanted our latest ad campaign to focus on what we call 'rewriting the rules', inspired by the good luck adage 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue," she said.
The decision to show foster more inclusivity with their campaign comes after the company filed for bankruptcy protection last year.
According to Pride, the move toward catering to LGBTQ customers may be a way to step ahead of the competition and carve out a niche for themselves in an already oversaturated market.
As expected, the campaign was met with a whole lotta love on social media.
