Bride Slammed For Forcing Bridesmaids To Pay For 'Hideous' Dresses
Everyone knows how tough weddings can be for those involved – and we’re not just talking about the bride.
Agreeing to be someone’s bridesmaid can be something of a poisoned chalice – you need to relinquish everything and anything you like wearing, and hand over all control to bride.
Feel then for a group of women in who were forced by a bride to fork out $260 for what they describe as “hideous” frilly dresses for the wedding.
Taking to UK advice site Mumsnet, one of the bridesmaids asked whether it would be unreasonable to tell the bride that the group of six girls didn’t want to wear or pay for the “monstrosities”.
She wrote: “There are six of us and we all absolutely hate the dress she has picked. She has found it online with her DM (darling mum) and it is honestly the fugliest dress I have ever seen.
“We’ve decided to tell her how we feel and drew straws. I obviously drew the short straw.
“So am I being unreasonable to tell her that we do not want to wear and pay for these monstrosities?
“How do I do that without upsetting her? She’s so stressed and I don’t want to add to that.”
The bridesmaid went on to upload a photo of the dress in question – and told the site that neither the colour nor the style suited any of the girls.
Most users were quick to jump on the bridesmaids side.
One person wrote: “I don’t know how you go about that conversation but they are seriously hideous! You can’t wear that!”
Users went on to urge all of the bridesmaids to take a stand against the bride, and refuse to wear the dress.
Might be time for those bridesmaids to take a trip inside the cathartic world of wedding shaming, we think.
