iPhone Hack Helps You Find A Photo Without Scrolling Through Your Entire Camera Roll
When your photos app looks more like a jungle than it does a gallery, finding the one happy snap can be impossible -- but not anymore.
If you're anything like me, handing someone your phone to look at a photo can feel like a trust exercise of the highest order. Because the moment they start to swipe, all bets are off.
What if they spot an out-of-context screenshot? What if they see your near-naked gym 'before' shots? What if they see that weird, out of focus pic you took of that red spot on your back?!
Skimming through your photos app can be a walk down memory lane, or it can be a journey through hell. Thankfully, there's a handy little function here to make locating your pics so much easier. And it's been right under our noses this whole time.
Open up your photos app and you'll see a panel along the bottom with a number of buttons, including 'Photos' and 'For You'. On the bottom right, you'll spot a picture of a magnifying glass with the word 'Search'.
Then, type into the search bar any key words that you can associate with that photo. For example, 'concert', or 'pizza', or 'beach'.
You can also type in the location where the photo was taken.
In a creepy twist, the function is also very good at using facial recognition technology to identify your friends. Type someone's name in and all their photos will appear.
If you're feeling a little uncomfortable knowing just how advanced iPhone technology can be, Apple insists this tech doesn't expand beyond your mobile phone.
They told the Sun that this facial, object and scene recognition technology exists completely on your phone, "without requiring your data to leave your device."
If you're already well aware of this feature, you're probably rolling your eyes right now. But believe me, an overwhelming number of us have completely missed this until now.
Give it a try and see how you go. Your days of hurriedly swiping through your embarrassing screenshots could be behind you.
