'Yes, You're Right': Eva Mendes Hits Back Over Nasty Instagram Comment
The actress wasn't going to let the comment about her age slide.
Over the weekend, actress and fashion designer Eva Mendes shared a video on her Instagram as she returned to work.
"Back to work. Design meeting. My co-worker getting her kicks and teasing me about my 'cute' new hair," she wrote alongside the video where she showed off her fresh hairstyle and thanked her hairdresser for making her 'mum life' a lot easier.
While most of the comments on Eva's post were overwhelmingly positive, one commenter however, felt the need to reply with a message about her age.
"She's getting old," a commenter wrote. Yet while you could easily expect the actress to let the comment slide, she decided to respond and make a perfect point about ageism.
"Yes, you're right. Thank God I'm getting old. That means I'm still here. I'm gonna be 46 soon and grateful everyday that I'm aging," the actress' reply began.
"Was your comment suppose to make me feel bad? It didn't. It makes me feels grateful. So thank you for the reminder that I’m still here."
Following her response, Eva also amended the caption on her video to note that she often reads the comments from her fans on her social media channels.
"Sending you all some extra love right now and always. Thank you for always sending me so much positivity and love through your comments," Eva added.
"I read most of them when I can and it makes me so happy that there’s so much love around. I send it all right back. Ten fold."
After drawing attention to the comment with her replies, a fellow commenter defended Eva, suggesting the woman must have made a spelling mistake, correcting the word 'old' to 'gorg' or 'hot'.
"Not that it matters but it breaks my heart that someone would send such negative thoughts to anyone. Looking sweet and kind as well," the commenter added.
Eva again gave another brilliant response:
"Thanks for the love! But it really didn't make me upset, it made me sad that she would think that's a bad thing.
"Getting older is the goal!!!!! Isn't it?!? I can't wait to grow old AF! That's the plan!!! Now will I try to take as much care of myself in the process? Absolutely! Again thanks for your kind words."
While another fan told Eva she doesn't look older than 30, the actress again replied and said she still has no problem with growing older.
"Thanks! But I really do see it as a blessing. I take care of myself as much as I can but thank God I'm aging!! I hope I get super old. That's the goal!!! Sending love. Thanks for the sweet comment."
Despite her success as a fashion designer, Eva previously said she'd like to return to acting, particularly if a role came up alongside her husband, Ryan Gosling, who she shares daughters Esmeralda and Amada with.
"Now that I'm older and that I'm a mother, I would obviously choose my roles differently," she told E! News at the end of last year.
I'm just a walking example for [my daughters] and I take that very seriously so it would have to be something that feels appropriate and that would still be fun for me. It's a lot of parameters, you know?
"But yes, I would be very excited. And I really want to work with Ryan again," she continued.
"My most fun experience was being on set with him when he was directing. It was really so creatively satisfying being in it together and he's such an amazing director. I would love that experience again, for sure."
