Why Kimye And The Kids Bailed On The Kardashian Kristmas Kard This Year
Like jingle of bells or the sparkle of tinsel, the arrival of the Kardashian family Christmas card is our annual indication that the holiday season is well and truly upon us.
For more than thirty years, the famous family have posed together for their Christmas card. But this year, Kim and Kanye decided to go their separate ways.
Yesterday, Kim's Instagram debuted the The West Family Christmas Card 2019. And not only did it lack confetti, ballgowns, or any form of tiara -- it also lacked about 80 per cent of her family.
Kim, Kanye, and their four children posed on the staircase in matching tracksuits for their own family photo, reportedly to avoid the "stress" of wrangling everyone into line for the larger shot.
According to 'People', organising last year's shoot was such a nightmare that Kim vowed to do it differently this time around. Apparently keeping everyone in your family happy is difficult, who knew!
"It's been difficult for them for years to get everyone together for a Christmas card," a source told the publication.
Last year when Kim organised it, there was a lot of complaining. It really stressed her out. She was over the drama and decided to do one for just her family this year.
The significantly smaller family photo is without most of the bells and whistles that have gone onto hallmark a Kardashian Christmas. Dressed only in white and heather grey, Kanye, Kim, North, Chicago, Saint and Psalm are all cuddled closely together.
Looking over the comments, it was four-year-old Saint West stole the show, sitting up front and centre and beaming into the camera. This year also marks seven-month-old Psalm's first Christmas.
The low-key pyjama party is quite the gear shift from previous year's ultra glamorous shots.
Last year's photo featured all nine of Kris Jenner's grand kids, and four out of five of her daughters, bar Kendall. Dressed in all-white, the First Family of reality TV smooshed themselves onto the one white lounge.
The 2018 photo was slammed online, with many pointing out a number of weird discrepancies dispersed throughout the picture.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Khloe and Kylie's feet look eerily similar, tweeting their suspicions that they were photoshopped in. Others were convinced that North's head was completely superimposed.
The family haven't confirmed or denied the use of Photoshop in their Chrissy cards, but it's hardly a Kardashian Christmas without a little bit of controversy.
The 2017 card notably lacked Kylie Jenner, fueling the flames that the then 20-year-old Kylie was pregnant. Pop culture's favourite mystery was confirmed the following February when Stormi's birth was announced.
Ever year the Kardashian Christmas card has the power to shape the conversation and timestamp an entire year in fashion and family.
And if Kanye continues to get his way, 2020 will be a year of more trackies.
