Byron Bay Wedding Venue Where Bachelorette Finale Was Filmed Destroyed In Fire Afterwards

The Fig Tree Restaurant, a popular and iconic wedding location, was destroyed by fires earlier this month.

Many marveled at the incredible Byron Bay scenery on Thursday night when Angie Kent decided between Carlin Sterritt and Timm Hanly in 'The Bachelorette' finale.

But with filming taking place months before the show aired, it was a sad reminder for some, after the picturesque Byron Bay location The Fig Tree Restaurant caught fire causing extensive damage on November 2.

At the time, owners of the family home and venue the Devlins, shared the difficult news on their Facebook page, writing: "We woke today to the worst news for our beautiful venue and family home. Our venue has been devastated by a fire overnight."

"We are in complete shock, as we know many of you will be. We are urgently calling all of our booked weddings and relocating bookings to other Byron venues. We ask for your patience and consideration at this time."

They thanked the firefighters of Byron Bay who worked to try to save their special home, who were sadly not able to save the building. "It is completely heartbreaking," the Devlin's message concluded.

Fire Rescue NSW responded to an incident at the location at 3:15am in the morning, where firefighters from Byron Bay, Bangalow, Brunswick and the surrounding RFS Brigades worked hard to prevent fire spreading to surrounding guest accommodation and houses.

"Due to the intensity of the blaze the iconic Fig Tree Restaurant could not be saved. The owner and operator Che Devlin must be praised for immediately evacuating guests from The Dairy, only 25 metres from the fire," A Facebook post from Fire Rescue NSW read.

Fire Rescue NSW said it was a 'massive blow' to the Devlin family, who impressively worked tirelessly amid the awful news to arrange an alternative location for a wedding that was planned to go ahead on their property that day.

"There were no casualties or injuries. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation," the post concluded.

Aside from 'The Bachelorette' finale being filmed there, with Angie's last date with Timm taking place by its swimming pool, it was also the wedding venue for former Bachelor Sam Wood and his wife Snezana Markoski last November.

Angie was pictured during a scene walking under the venue's iconic tree arch in her incredible Steven Khalil dress, a spot where many couples have chosen to exchange their vows.

At the time of her wedding, Snezana commented on the beauty of the venue, writing: "We wanted a venue that was full of natural beauty and didn't need to be polished."

"When we saw The Fig Tree we both knew straight away that it was the place."

Two days after the fire, it was announced the Fig Tree Restaurant though it would never be the same, would be rebuilt.

"The Fig Tree Restaurant building is no longer, but her spirit still shines bright," a Facebook post read.

"We will rebuild and can’t wait to welcome you home to your table at the Fig Tree."
