How Blake Lively Kept The Birth Of Her Third Child A Secret For Two Months
Hiding a pregnancy when you're not famous is hard in itself -- so as a Hollywood star -- how exactly do we know so little about Blake Lively's third child?
The famous actress and her actor husband, Ryan Reynolds, 42, are incredibly private about their family life and three children, James, four, Inez, three, and new baby -- who was born two months ago with their gender and name yet to be made public.
But you'd be forgiven for not knowing the 32-year-old recently gave birth because that's exactly what the mum-of-three wanted.
She revealed her pregnancy while at the premiere of her husband's film Pokémon Detective Pikachu in May of this year where really, she wouldn't have been able to hide it if she wanted to.
Her large baby bump spoke to the camera before she could and had she not attended, speculation would've been rife about why she wasn't there to support her husband's latest movie.
Yet following this appearance, Blake seemingly disappeared and according to Us Weekly, this was a calculated move. Given that announcing her first pregnancy on her lifestyle website 'Preserve' in 2014 caused it to crash under the immense traffic, it's an understandable one.
After her time on the red carpet, Blake avoided being photographed for months, with the last time she was seen out with Ryan and her two children while still pregnant being in June.
Blake also didn't share any photos of herself since the premiere in May and went quiet on her social media channels, only posting five photos for the entire year, with many of them being flashbacks to her pre-pregnancy self.
This is how Blake and Ryan were able to keep the arrival of their third child secret for two months until it began to be confirmed by international websites including Us Weekly and People.
Yet the pair have not spoken publicly about the arrival of their new baby and it's for good reason. They've both held the long standing view that they would like their children to have a "normal upbringing" and as such, have maintained their privacy.
"They do everything they can to make sure [the kids] have a normal upbringing," a source told Us Weekly. "Blake has a really great support system there [her home of Westchester, New York]."
They added that Ryan took off eight days during filming to be with Blake and their newborn with no everyone from the set remaining tight lipped, meaning it wasn't announced as it happened.
Blake previously said that her family and maintaining their privacy is her number one priority as a mum, when speaking to Marie Claire in 2017.
"My family: That's the thing that I feel most protective of and the thing that I feel is the most exposed when I feel exploited," she said.

Blake said however that leading a quiet family life when you are famous has not been without its challenges.
I'd rather not have to deal with it at all, but we knew the lifestyle we were getting into, and while it's hard… it's another thing when it's our child. She [James] didn't have the opportunity to make a decision about what she wants.
Yet given Blake and Ryan has a normal upbringing, away from the attention of Hollywood, they've fought for the same for their children.
"We want our kids to have the same normal life that we had," Blake previously said. "We don't ever want to rob them of what we had because we'd feel really selfish."
