'I'm Trying Not To Cry': Angelina Jolie Says Goodbye To Her Eldest Son
The actress might be one of the most famous faces in Hollywood but on Wednesday she was just a proud mum witnessing her 18-year-old's milestone moment.
Dropping off Maddox at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, a video shows Jolie getting emotional as she says goodbye to him.
In the footage, a fan speaks to the 44-year-old, who said her eldest will be living in the dorms while he undertakes the study of bio engineering.
When asked how long she would be staying, her response was met with disappointment from on looks who were undoubtedly hoping the Oscar winning star would be spending some more time on the campus.
"I leave today, today is the day that I drop him off," she said, as she appears to become emotional, adding, "I know, I'm trying not to cry."
"Yes it's time, thank you very much, it seems like a great school," Angelina said to the onlookers. "I'm sure you're all going to like it here," she continued.
Maddox's siblings Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne weren't with him to say their goodbyes.
When he was accepted into the school, Jolie told People: "I’m nothing but proud. I look forward to all he will do."
The big moment comes following reports from US Weekly that Maddox is estranged from his father Brad Pitt, who he allegedly got into an altercation with on a private plane in 2016.
“Maddox doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son,” an unnamed source told the publication, adding that he is very close with Jolie.
Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Brad legally adopted him four years later.
