Meghan Markle's Mum Is The Star Of A New Romance Novel
We bet you thought, with the frenzy around the impending birth of Meghan and Harry's first child, that the world had already reached peak royal.
There simply couldn't be anything else left to talk about, right? We certainly thought so.
Well, we were all mistaken as there's another royal-related news story out there but for once it's not about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Instead, it's about the Duchess' mother, Doria Ragland. The 62-year-old is now the star of a new romance novel.
By that we mean she's the inspiration behind a romance novel. It's called Royal Holiday by American author Jasmine Guillory and is set to be released on October 1.
But the idea for the story -- which sees a mature-aged single mum fall in love with the Queen's private secretary -- began back in November 2018 when Raglan was invited by Her Maj to spend Christmas with the royal family.
At the time, librarian and podcaster Margaret Willison tweeted that she needed a "charming romance about the single mother of a new Duchess falling in love with an appropriately aged royal retainer while spending Christmas at Sandringham."
As it turns out, Guillory -- a friend of Willison -- was only too happy to oblige and the rest, as they say, is history.
Or, history with a generous dose of imagination.
Royal Holiday is the heartwarming story of Vivian Forest, a "black woman in her fifties" who is invited by her daughter, a successful stylist, to accompany her across the pond to style a British royal.
It's not long before Vivian falls for Malcolm, the Queen's private secretary, who is described as a "tall mug of steaming hot chocolate."
We're blushing already!
It's not hard to see where Guillory has taken certain liberties.
In the book, Vivian's daughter is named Maddie which does begin with the same letter as Meghan's however that's really where the similarities end. Maddie is a stylist while Meghan, as we know, is a Duchess.
Most importantly, as far as we know, Ragland is perfectly happy living a single -- and very private -- life in California. She was, of course, married to Meghan's father Thomas Markle from 1979 to '87.
Word is that the grandmother-to-be is flying over to be by her daughter's side for the birth of her first child in late April/early May -- perhaps the trip will also involve a bit of romance?
