Kmart Pie Maker Facebook Group Hits 80K Members Thanks To Its Mind-Blowing Recipes

A Facebook group dedicated to a $29 Kmart pie maker is going bananas thanks to some ingenious recipes and hacks.

The group called 'Kmart Pie Maker Recipes, Tips and Ideas Australia' was created by cousins Lisa and Nat and in just 10 months it's racked up tens of thousands of members.

It all started when Nat purchased the inexpensive pie maker from Kmart -- it's still available online, people! -- and began experimenting with recipes she saw on one of the other Kmart Mums Facebook pages.

The pair thought 'why don't we start our own page?' but they never expected it to become this popular. "We were just mucking around," Lisa told 10 daily -- in fact, she didn't even own a pie maker at the time!

It's now home to over 80 thousand happy pie makers who love sharing recipe ideas, tricks and hacks -- they even tip one another off when puff pastry is on sale at the supermarket!

Lisa has even noticed people from overseas are joining the group -- so get ready for some ~international~ flavours to pop up soon.

Lisa has a bit of experience with Facebook groups -- she also runs one for the popular Philips air fryer that has about 10,000 members.

Still, the pie maker page "takes up all our time" and will certainly keep her busy during the three weeks she has off work.

Lisa told 10 daily that members are "starting to get really creative" with their pie making ideas -- think lemon meringues, taco pies and cheesy scrolls.

So, what's her fave so far? She said she was impressed by a recipe for scotch eggs, and mentioned her very own recipe for a KFC pie which she pulled together using leftover chicken from her son's birthday.

"The poached eggs are also great," she said.

Where to from here? While Lisa doesn't have any specific plans for when the group hits 100k pie fans -- "I'll probably put a post up!" -- she is keen to get to work grouping everyone's wonderful recipes together so they're easier to find.
