Your Biggest Question About The Viral $57 Woolies Wedding Cake Answered
If you've been on your smartphone today, you might've seen there is lot of buzz around the wedding cake a mum constructed for her friend out of mostly Woolies chocolate cakes.
Silvina Werner posted her amazing effort in the Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks group on Facebook and it was an instant hit.
It was made for her friend and consisted of 11 chocolate mud cakes from Woolies and cost the bargain price of $57.
"Bottom tier consists of four cakes each made out of two mud cakes, second tier is two mud cakes and for the third tier I cut a mud cake into two smaller ones," she wrote.
The construction was coated with Betty Crocker buttercream between the layers and for a covering with the fresh flowers on the cake being supplied by the bride.
"Proud of my efforts," she added. But it seems everyone had one simple question and to be honest... same. How did Sivina use the smaller cakes to make the larger one at the bottom?
Many commenters were baffled and needed answers.
"I'm mystified how you used the cakes to make the larger ones on the bottom. Would you be able to explain, or maybe draw some free hand diagrams to illustrate, please?" asked a commenter.
"That's what I’m wondering. Tell us how, please," added another.
"Glad you asked. My mind tried to be mathematical and geometric in one but....nah. Sorry, couldn't work it out. Would love to know. Such a great skill to learn," said a third.
Wonder no more, because Sivina was kind enough to tell everyone how she managed her cake magic. Here's how she made the bigger cakes for the bottom:
- Glad wrap a large tin.
- Place two cakes on top of each other in the tin and squeeze them together.
- Leave the icing on for moisture (this also helps them to blend together).
- Place the tin in the freezer.
Sivina did this four times (eight cakes in total) and stacked them on top of each other using the buttercream in between to construct the bottom layer.
She said she got the idea from watching how cake pops are made and said it worked well when they came out of the freezer.
